Marks & Spencer, Holmbush Centre, Shoreham-by-Sea

Client: Marks & Spencer
Architect: Greig + Stephenson

This project involved a 2,370sqm extension to this flagship store located at the Holmbush Shopping Centre in West Sussex. Traffic and transport issues were key to the scheme as the proposals involved extending the store into the existing car park with a corresponding reduction in parking spaces at this busy retail centre. The Transport Assessment involved extensive junction capacity modeling on the surrounding highway network and also involved identifying improvements to junctions, the local pedestrian environment and cycling network. The proposal was granted planning permission in 2010 and the new store opened in 2011.
